The Son of God did not seek to glorify himself like ‘false gods’, who lead people astray from truth. This is not exclusive to those amidst spiritual and religious communities either. The motives of ‘false gods’ are often driven by a hunger for power through status and wealth at the expense of others – with little concern for the consequences of their actions, even if those actions are deceptive, manipulative and often selfish or potentially harmful.
So, as you read Jesus’ teachings throughout the scripture with this in mind, your interpretation will shift and understanding of His communication will improve. You’ll appreciate and praise the quality of truth and goodness He came to illuminate our minds with and help us heal.
‘“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.’ – Gospel of Matthew (It’s the sword which cuts through the lies and deception).
When Jesus refers to himself within his teachings, it’s about what he symbolises – His Name – which is Christ and numerous sacred texts reveal that Christ is Love!
So when He says –
“For I have come to turn “‘a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’
He’s not fostering conflict, He’s revealing to us that Love as centre stage of one’s choices will sometimes lead people away from their family or community members who do not nurture the essence of their true Self, which is love and light. So, to ‘take up your cross and follow me’ means despite the pain and suffering you’ve endured, the path of ascension also revealed within ‘the cross’ is a path to liberation and your salvation. You’re not doing this alone, because all those who ‘follow Him’ – follow ‘Love’ are crossing that bridge too which leads one to the new earth, revealed through new consciousness – to put on the mind of Christ.
There’s so much focus on Jesus’ story, but what about yours? What are you here to share with the world and who do you choose to be in the process of change?
‘And God the Father is the power of heaven and earth; and God the Mother is the Holy Breath, the thought of heaven and earth; and God the Son, the only son, is Christ, and Christ is love’. – The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ
